Mr. Elmore was my 8th grade reading teacher at McClain in 88-89 and I liked him. He let me teach the class once because I thought that I could do a better job at the time. It was something about symbols. He heckled me while I tried to. It was funny and I deserved it. He was cool.

I moved down to this area in the fall of '87. Mr Elmore was the first teacher that I had. He was teaching 7th grade at Rainsboro at that time. Mr Elmore made me feel welcome into the classroom at a time when I was very nervous. Every morning he had a smile on his face. He was always cracking jokes with us. Though the years I would see him here or there. He would always ask how I was and about my family. Mr Elmore was just an all around wonderful man. I will miss him terribly.
Our prayers are with you- Joe was an excellent teacher and he loved kids. It takes a special person to teach Junior High students, he was a special person Both of uor kids enjoyed having him as a teacher.

Mr. Elmore was undoubtedly the teacher I most enjoyed having class with, and I was fortunate enough to have him for 2 years. The first was as a 7th grader in Greenfield for reading, and I was again his student as an 8th grader at Buckskin. I can't remember ever talking to one of his former students and hearing anything negative. Too many students will not have the opportunity I had, to know such a great teacher. I would like to extend my sympathy to all of his family members, as well as friends, co-workers, and former students.

Mary and family,
My condolences to you on Joe's passing. Mom and I found out just yesterday (Oct 5),as she was reading the obituaries. My memories of Joe are during his years as a young father and fire fighter. One of my first memories was being with Grandma and Aunt Josie at his house on Highland Avenue during his marriage to Lacey's mom, and seeing him dressed in his military uniform. He always had a smile as I recall. I fondly remember him giving me candy while I was playing with Lacey during her summertime visits. As a child accompanying Grandma to Royal Blue Market (remember this grocery?), I remember many occasions we would stop by the fire station to chat with Joe before shopping.
With deepest sympathy,
Sherri
