Charles Grant Elliott, age 79, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, December 10, 2006 at Heartland of Hillsboro Nursing Home. He was born February 27, 1927, in Pike County, Ohio the son of the late Earl and Goldie East Elliott. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during W.W. II, and was a retired sawyer. He is survived by his wife Mary Alice Morris Elliott, to whom he married March 22, 1947 in Greenup, Kentucky; three daughters, Rosemary (Rodney) Knisley of Peebles, Nina Elliott and her companion Rick Knisley of Peebles, and Marvetta (Dean) South of Waynesville, Missouri; two adopted sons, Chad Elliott and Shane Elliott, both of Hillsboro; brother Richard “Rink” (Elsie) Elliott of Latham; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by an infant son, Dennis Grant Elliott; brother Rosco Elliott; and four sisters, Mildred Copas, Norma Shanks, Ruth Leeth, and Helen Childers. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, December 15, 2006 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. The Reverends Wayne Barker and Richard Burns will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lapperell Cemetery, near Bainbridge, where the Highland County Honor Guard will accord military honors. Visitation will be Thursday, December 14, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O.
