Isaac Robert “Bob” Dodds, age 78, of Leesburg, died Saturday, December 17, 2005 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born March 27, 1927, in Bridges, Ohio, the son of the late Otto and Alma Smith Dodds. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the LST 854 in the American Theatre and in the Pacific Theatre during the Phillipines Liberation, Battle of Okinawa, and the Occupation of Japan at Hokkaido, Japan. Bob had worked for the B & O Railroad before retiring as a dispatcher. After retirement, Bob worked part time for Gusweiler’s G.M. Center in Washington C.H. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 9094 in Hillsboro, American Legion Post # 25, Washington C.H., and Elks Lodge #129, Washington C.H. He is survived by his wife Beverly Eyre Dodds; two sons, Michael Dodds and his wife Kathy of Arlington, Texas, and Patrick Dodds and his wife Jill of Wilmington; two step-sons, Ed Eyre and his wife Nikki of Leesburg, Don Eyre and his wife Tina of Dayton; one step daughter, Susan Miracle of Leesburg; five grandchildren, Amy Dodds of Cleveland, Ohio, Chris Dodds of Hillsboro, Jason Dodds of Greenfield, Kyle Thames of Jal, New Mexico, and Casey Thames of Jal, New Mexico; four step-grandchildren, Brad (Jodell) Miracle of Greenfield, Allison (Jeff) Vickers of Leesburg, Erika Eyre of Lexington, Kentucky, and Lindsey Best of Dayton; two great-grandchildren, Megan Dodds and Ethan Dodds; two step great-grandchildren Blaine Vickers and Madison Miracle; and two sisters, Polly Ellison of Dayton, and Donna Parshall of Hillsboro. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his first wife, Jeanne Ramsey Dodds; his daughter Kelly Thames; and two sisters Alice Dodds and Eloise Henry. A Celebration of Life service will take place 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Turner Funeral Home, Leesburg. Pastor John Fitzgerald will officiate. The Highland County Honor Guard will accord Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the Celebration of Life at 6:00 p.m. Burial of Cremains will take place in the Bridges Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family. Bev, was so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. Being out of the loop with our patients, I didn't even realize that he was not well. I always looked forward to his "appointments" as he always had a story or two to tell and would tease me just because he knew he could. His joyful being will be missed by many. I know how hard it is, especially at this time of year (we lost Mom on Dec. 22), and please know that we will be holding you close to our hearts.
