Harold
M. Day age 86 of Hillsboro died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at the Miami Valley
Hospital in Dayton. He was born March 19, 1918 in Peebles, Ohio the son of the
late Herman “Flick” and Etta (Harris) Day. Mr. Day’s career started in
Schaeffer’s Supermarket in Portsmouth, he was transferred to Hillsboro and was
store manager for Schaeffer’s Supermarket and later worked for Kroger’s in
Wilmington and as store manager for Uhl’s IGA in Sabina. He had owned and
operated the H. M Day Company and Day Crafters in Wilmington and Greenfield. He
was presently working as a security officer for Wackenhut in the Airborne
Express Complex in Wilmington. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and
was the Class Speaker. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II. He
is survived by his wife, Faye E. (Davidson) Day whom he had married on September
11, 1938 in Maysville, Kentucky, three daughters, Janet Marlene Norris of
Leesburg, Barbara K. Ellis of Highland Heights, Kentucky, Carol A. Day of
Hillsboro, one son, Harold Richard “Dick” Day of Wilmington, eight
grandchildren, Shelly Allen of Willettsville, David Norris of Leesburg, Traci
Markgarf of Hebron, Kentucky, Jennifer Seward of Cincinnati, Josh Day of
Wilmington, Kris Day Wilmington, Terri Tate of Hillsboro, Jason Carman stationed
with the U. S. Air Force in England and six
great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, one brother, Carl Day, preceded
him in death. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Pastor Dan
Lamb will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Adams County
Honor Guard will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery. There is no visitation.
Friends and family are invited to a Reception of Friends at 1:30 p.m. Saturday
at the Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church. The Turner & Son Funeral Home in

Sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Day. You probably don't remember me, but my sister (Charlotte) and I were friends of the family, many years ago in Hillsboro. It's been a long time, but I do remember Mr. Day and what a nice person to know. The world is a lesser world with his passing...
