Winifred L. “Winnie” Cumberland age 58 of Hillsboro died Saturday morning, July 10, 2004 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. She was born April 6, 1946 in Hillsboro, Ohio the daughter of the late Harold and Maxine (Williams) Thomas. Mrs. Cumberland had been employed at the Buckeye Molding Company in New Vienna and Candlelite in Leesburg. She is survived by her husband, John Cumberland Jr. whom she had married on October 17, 1964 in Hillsboro, four sons, Tony, Todd, Scott and Tyrone Cumberland of Hillsboro, one daughter, Tina Cumberland of Hillsboro, one step-son, Jonathan Cumberland of Wilmington, twenty-three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four sisters, Lois Jean Captain and Virginia Thomas of Hillsboro, Rochelle Dennis of Columbus, LaQuata Thomas of Cincinnati, three brothers, Harold (Joyce) Thomas Jr. of East Monroe, Delbert Thomas of Washington C.H., Doyle Thomas of Hillsboro, three sisters-in-law, Myrtle Rowe and Alice Kinney of Hillsboro, Doris Woods of Cincinnati, two brothers-in-law, Richard Cumberland and James (Eleanor) Cumberland of Hillsboro and a special friend, Kimberly Brooks of Hillsboro. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Roland Thomas, one sister, Brenda Coleman and her father and mother-in-law, John Sr. and Delia Cumberland. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the New Hope Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Pastor Michael Hudson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

I was very sorry to hear of Mrs. Cumberlands' passing. I used to work at Krogers' in Hillsboro for 16 years always enjoyed talking to her when she was shopping. I've remarried and moved out of state and just found out of her passing. Your familes have my deepest sympathy.
