It was the will of our Heavenly Father to welcome home the beloved spirit of the weary pilgrim, Mary Frances Cornetet, August 27, 2004. Mary’s earthly journey began in Vienna, Austria in the home of her parents, Joseph and Teresa Smrz, July 28, 1912. Her two brothers Chas. and Frank and a sister Min welcomed her also. The family immigrated to America in 1921 and established residence in Chicago, Illinois. It took her 92 years and 1 month to reach the Eternal home she was seeking. On her journey, she met and married Melvin Cornetet on December 20, 1930, and shared life with him until his death on June 27, 1980. Their home was blessed by the arrival of a daughter, Marietta and twin sons, Paul and Hugh. They enjoyed watching their children grow to adulthood and provided a loving Christian home where friends and relatives were always welcome. Survivors are Marietta and husband David Dunn, son Hugh and wife Sherry Cornetet, son Paul Cornetet, Donna and Bill Hinckle, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A grandchild, Michael Dunn, preceded her in death. Mary was baptized and united with the Buford Church of Christ September 17, 1937. Later she moved to Hillsboro and transferred her membership to the Hillsboro Church of Christ, where she was faithful member until she was no longer physically able to attend. She remained strong to the One who had promised never to leave or forsake her – even in the valley of the shadow of death. Her prayer would be that all of us rejoice with her as she stands in God’s presence on that bright and peaceful shore, where all the storms of life have passed by. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. John Porter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Buford Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 West Walnut Street, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
