Evelyn M. Chaney, age 84, of Hillsboro, died Monday, March 29, 2010, at Highland District Hospital. She was born April 25, 1925 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Lee Elbert and Sarah Frances Fraysier Morrow. She was a veteran of the United States Army serving during W.W.II, a member of the Fairview Church of Christ, and an avid sports fan. Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Frances (Larry) Cole of Hillsboro, and Sheri Frazer of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son Larry Clinton (Debbie) Chaney of Vandalia; six grandchildren, Todd Cole, Todd Chrisman, Tracy Perrelle, Larry Dean Cole, Regina Stevens and Rhonda Broady; fourteen great grandchildren, Todd Cole, Jr., Zachary Cole, Anthony Cole, Jayme Korn, Jordan Korn, Sidney Chrisman, Kyle Holland-Cole, Brandon Cole, Jessica Cole, Annie Stevens, Kendra McElvoy, Darrell Cole, Wesley Runyon, and Whitney Runyon; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Delmar “Deb” Chaney who died August 26, 1985; sister Lois Chaney; brother John Morrow; and grandson Darrell Cole. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Bob Wickline will officiate. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in Barnes Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
