Roy Frank Burns age 83 of Hillsboro, died Friday evening February 25, 2005 at Highland District Hospital.  He was born on July 15, 1921, in Tranquility, the son of the late Harley B. and Rosa Stella (Ralston) Burns.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Washington BB-56, the ship that had the distinction of having “never lost a sailor” and sank the most combat tonnage of any U.S. battleship during World War II.  He retired after twenty-eight years as an engineer for the Ford Motor Company.   On June 15, 1956 in Hillsboro Ohio he married Bonnie L. (Brofft) Burns, who survives.   Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer Kay and Bill Wallace of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Deborah Sue and Gary Zugg of Lynchburg, three sons and daughters-in-law George Franklin and Anita Burns of Mt. Orab, James Wesley and Judy Burns of Williamsburg, Kevin Lee and Diane Burns of Bowersville, a brother Harold Burns of Hillsboro, two grandchildren, Brianna R. Burns and Shannon D. Hupp and one great granddaughter, Faith Dawn Hupp.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers Herbert, Bill, Bob, Kenny, Floyd, Ralph Burns, one sister Bernice Ellison and two grandchildren, Sarah Kay Hupp and Patrick M. Hupp.  Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Wednesday  at the Fayetteville Church of Christ. Sherman Mullett will officiate.   Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens in Milford.  Friends may call on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Fayetteville Church of Christ located one quarter of a mile West of Fayetteville Ohio on U. S. 50. The Turner & Son Funeral Home is serving the family.
