Gerald
D. Burney age 71 of Hillsboro died Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Highland
District Hospital.He was born March 2, 1935 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of
the late Jim and Pearl West Burney. Mr. Burney had retired after forty-one years
of service from the Ford Motor Company. He is survived by his wife, Louella (Niehaus)
Burney whom he had married on October 24, 1954 in Indiana, two sons, Steve
(Linda) Burney of Hillsboro, Mike (Diane Woods) Burney of Fayetteville, four
daughters, Tina (Kevin Hawkins) Cope of Hillsboro, Tammy (Oscar Nace) Burney of
Newtonsville, Bonnie (Matt Higginbotham) Burney of Bainbridge and Lisa Bourne of
Hillsboro, one brother, Bob Burney of Indiana, nineteen grandchildren and
twenty-three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by one son, Dennis M. Burney, four brothers and two sisters. Visitation
will be held on Monday, March 27th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at
the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Cremation will follow. Burial of
cremains will follow 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 31st in the Lynchburg
Masonic Cemetery.
