Glenna Elaine Smith Lindemann Brittain, age 85, of Hillsboro, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Saturday morning, November 6, 2010 at her residence. Elaine Lindemann Brittain (nee Glenna Elaine Smith) was born July 5, 1925 to Glenn and Norma Smith of Hightop Road. She lived an adventurous and full life: traveling, riding Harleys, making friends, raising dogs, and always helping other people. Elaine was the first to say that she had a wonderful life and encouraged others to enjoy their own lives. Elaine is predeceased by her parents, two husbands: Ward Lindemann of Columbus, and Clarence Brittain of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, by her daughter, Jane McDaniels, and son-in-law, Duke McDaniels of Spring Hill, Florida. She is survived by her two sons, Jim (Marci) Lindemann of Hillsboro and Fort Lauderdale, Florida and John Lindemann of Wellington, Florida; four grandchildren; Tammy Burcham of Tampa, Florida, Tom (Laura) McDaniels of Jacksonville, Florida, Courtney (Tom) Davies of Cary, N.C., Justin Lindemann of Jupiter Farms, Florida; six great grandchildren; Ryan Burcham, Michael McDaniels, Elliott Burgess, Evan McDaniels, Tyler Davies and Kaitlin Davies. Elaine was born and raised in Samantha and attended Hillsboro High School. She attended Ohio University in Columbus where she met her first husband with whom she moved to Florida in the 1960s. She enjoyed moving back to her hometown of Hillsboro in 2002, seeing shows at the Colony Theater, attending the Bell Festival, the Highland County Fair and other local events, and patronizing local family-fun businesses and the Senior Citizens Center. Elaine leaves behind a number of dear friends whom she loved and appreciated immensely. In accordance with her wishes, Elaine was cremated. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation. She has directed that her ashes be spread in Alaska, where she loved visiting. The family suggests that contributions to the Hospice of Hope, 215 Hughes Blvd., Mount Orab, Ohio 45154, all of whom have been so helpful, would be a loving tribute to Elaine.
