Curtis Neil Blankenship age 66 of Xenia, Ohio died Wednesday afternoon, April 3, 2002 at the Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia. He was born May 5, 1935 in Letcher County, Kentucky the son of the late Stanley Ernest and Lula (Alley) Blankenship. Mr. Blankenship was a retired health inspector for the Preble County Department of Health. He was a member of the Xenia Elks Lodge, had worked for the Xenia Recreation Commission and had umpired summer league slow pitch softball, had refereed winter league basketball and had coached little league football for Shawnee Elementary School in Xenia. He is survived by his wife Peggy (Elliott) Blankenship, whom he had married on January 29, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hillsboro, one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and John Glover of Orange Park, Florida, two sons, Neil Blankenship of Orange Park, Florida and Scott Blankenship of Xenia, six grandchildren, Brandon and Nathan Blankenship, Jason Jarrells, Justin Glover, Josh and Ashley Walters and Tara Gerhart, one great granddaughter, Cora Stevens, one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Bill Henning of Franklin and  two brothers and sister-in-law, Ernest and Rita K. Blankenship of Hillsboro and Richard Blankenship of Hillsboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Maria Blankenship and a brother, Ray Blankenship. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Stanley Luehrmann will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Society for Children and Adults, 930 North West Street, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.

Susie and I are very sorry for your loss. As a young kid growing up on North High street we hung out at boones carry out.Curt taught me alot about life. living in a single parent home he was allways teaching me how to handle little problems that mom could'nt understand but he was the same man that told mom i was smoking in the graveyard and told mom how to brake us from smoking,those lucky strikes made us sick. I will allways have fond memories of curtis.I was blessed to have him as a freind and mentor.
