Mary E. Bell age 99 of Hillsboro died Thursday morning, January 29, 2004 at the Crestwood Nursing Center. She was born September 20, 1904 in Byesville, Ohio the daughter of the late Ira O’Dell and Laura Belle (Smith) King. Mrs. Bell and her late husband Oscar R. Bell had owned and operated Bell’s Market in Barnesville, Ohio and had retired in the late 1950’s when they moved to North Miami, Florida. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul E. and Lois Bell of Ocala, Florida, Gene R. and Betty Bell of Sugar City, Idaho; one daughter and son-in-law, Nina and John Wharton of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Oscar R. Bell whom she had married on November 25, 1923, Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Charles C. and Howard King and by one great grandson. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. There will be no visitation. Interment of cremains will follow in the Southern Memorial Cemetery in North Miami, Florida. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northview Baptist Church, 1139 Northview Drive, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
