James R. Achor
age 78
of Hillsboro died unexpectedly Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the Highland
District Hospital. He was born September 29, 1928 in Hillsboro, Ohio the son of
the late Stanley and Lucille Shoemaker Achor. Mr. Achor was a retired public
relations representative for the South Central Power Company and had served in
the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of
Eagles Aerie 1161 and was a past exalted ruler of the Hillsboro Benevolent and
Protective Order of Elks Lodge 361. He is survived by his wife, Pat Fenton Achor
whom he had married on November 8, 1955 in Hillsboro, two daughters and
sons-in-law, Kim and Neil Miller of Hillsboro, Kathy and Larry Phillips of
Maysville, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Ross and Ryker Miller and Leighton
Grover, one step grandson, Scott (Stephanie) Miller, one great granddaughter,
Olivia Grace, two step great grandchildren, Robbie and Andy, four sisters,
Patricia Wilson, Linda (Don) Campton, Mary Jane (Phil) Wilson and Pam Colwell
all of Hillsboro, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mitzi and Marvin Wilson of
Hillsboro and former son-in-law, John ( Kristi) Grover and their children Lauren
and Lana Grover of Hillsboro, and special friends Dean and Kay Hill of
Hillsboro, and Fred and Margery Barney of Hillsboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by an infant son, James Michael Achor, one sister, Saundra Fitzpatrick and
three brothers, Robert, Fred and Harold “Jack” Achor. Services will be held at
the convenience of the family on Wednesday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in
Hillsboro. Cremation will follow. There will be no visitation. Memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive,
Maysville, Kentucky 41056.
