Linda Susan Kennon age 60 of Wilmington died Thursday, October 24, 2014 at the Wilmington Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born February 7, 1954 in Springfield, MO. The daughter of the late Walter Charles and Dolores Prance Springmeier. Mrs. Kennon had been a longtime employee of Airborne Express working as a Forklift Operator. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Kennon who she married on December 18, 1985, two daughters, Holly Kennon of New Richmond, Michelle (Jerry) Lawson of Florence, KY and seven grandchildren, Sierra, Zoee, Khloee, Zander, Zayden Ratliff, Jerry Lawson III and Brandon Lawson. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29th at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery in Fayetteville. Shirley Ann (Vires) Williamson age 62 of New Petersburg, Ohio went to become the Lords angel on October 22, 2014. She was born February 9, 1952 in Morgan County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Dillard and Nancy Margret (Vanover) Vires. Shirley worked at Candle-Lite in Leesburg for almost 16 years. She was an avid dog lover and had a strong belief in Christ. She enjoyed Christian music, cooking, gardening and reading her Bible. She leaves behind her beloved sons, Randy Ray (Shannon Wallace) Williamson of Hillsboro and Greg (Liz Estell) Clos of Rainsboro; one brother, Jimmy (Gail) Vires of Kentucky; four sisters, Mary (Douglas) Griffitt of Kentucky, Louverna (Steve) Skinner of Kentucky, Geneva Sue Vires of Kentucky and Nancy Marie (Jeff) Gross of Kentucky; a special friend, Carol Knapp of Greenfield and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Martin Williamson; life companion, Virgil Lovely; two brothers, Tommy Vires Jr. and Paul William Vires; one sister, Vera Maire Vires; a brother in law, Douglas Griffitt and a niece, Janetta L. Holly Lynn Cole Vogel age 37 of Wilmington passed away Tuesday evening October 21, 2014 at her residence with her family by her side. She was born December 11, 1977 in Portsmouth, Ohio the daughter of the late Tommy Cole. She loved having parties on special occasions for her kids and family members. She is survived by her mother, Cindy Winkle and step father, Floyd Winkle; three children, Lacey Colwell, Casey Cole and Dalton Thompson; one grandchild, Isaiah Colwell; four siblings, Tommy (Juanita) Cole, Clayton (Rhiannon) Cole, Donny (Amanda) Cole and Amanda (Josh Lightner) Newland; grandparents, Virginia (Joe) Montavon and Robert (Dorothy) Arledge. Elnora Barnes age 79 of Hillsboro died Tuesday morning October 21, 2014 at the Laurels in Hillsboro. She was born October 5, 1935 in Waymansville, Indiana the daughter of the late Frank and Esther Vogt Baute. Mrs. Barnes had worked in housekeeping in nursing facilities. She was a member of the Red Hats Society and the Bird Watchers Club. She is survived by one daughter, Deidra (Richard) Dumpert of Buford, one son, Dwight Barnes of Wilmington, four grandchildren, Ivan Dumpert, Alisa Hehl, Brittany Barnes and Priscilla Nickerson, nine great grandchildren, Clayton, Mason, Kolton, Wyatt, Dalton, Cole, Matthew, Tristen and Luke, two sisters, Evelyn Fetter and Earline (Delbert) Woodson of Columbus, Indiana and one brother, Francis (Ethel) Baute of Columbus, Indiana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Barnes, one son, Billie Lee Barnes and one grandson, Christopher Barnes. Anthony Allen Ward, age 68, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2014 at his home. He was born September 29, 1946, in Cincinnati, the son of the late Lorinza and Mazella (Elkins) Ward. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War and was a life member of the Hillsboro V.F.W. Post 9094. On November 20, 1980, in Goshen, he married his wife of thirty-three years, Joanne (Lee) Ward, and she survives. He is also survived by a son, Kenneth Wayne Ward of Tennessee; eight siblings, Alice (Ken) Arant of Milford, Phillip (Robin) Ward of Loveland, John Ward Sr. of West Union, Marilyn Powell of Toledo, Timothy (Barbara) Ward of Hillsboro, Kathy (Randy) Taylor of Mason, John Ward, Jr. of West Union and Tina Agnew of Cuba; a sister-in-law, Teresa Ward of Peebles, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Allen Ward, Jr. and a brother, David Ward. James Lee Jim Johnson Sr. age 68 of Hillsboro died unexpectedly Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his home. He was born November 10, 1945 in Monroe, Ohio the son of the late Boyd Lovick and Anna Catherine Greene Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a 1963 graduate of the Little Miami High School where he played trumpet in the band. He attended Wilmington College, farmed and sold farm machinery for several years where he made numerous friends. Mr. Johnson worked for Greenfield Implement and was presently employed with Baxla Tractor. He is survived by his companion, Teresa Gall Trimm of Hillsboro, one son, James Lee (Jodi) Johnson Jr., two grandchildren, Matthew and Cali Johnson all of Turners Station, Kentucky, longtime friend, Flossie Gall of Hillsboro and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Herbert Johnson and one sister, Juanita Keller. Jim had a lifelong passion for tractor pulling which began in the late 1950s when he and his brother Herb and Herbs wife Louise began pulling with a Farmall M. That same Farmall M was recently freshened up so that Jim and his son could take the grandkids to winter tractor pulls now that they are big enough to help their papaw. Jim had several tractors in his pulling career, a 460 Farmall in the 60s and 70s; an 806 in the mid to late 70s; a 1066 in the 70s; he and his brother pulled a D21 in the 80s; the Farmall M that started it all in the 50s was pulled again starting in the mid 80s until early in 2000. He also ran a triple 6 with his good friend Paul Yates. Tractor pulling was a passion he shared with his son and the love of the sport has taken hold with his grandchildren as well. His granddaughters first thought when she found out papaw was gone, was that she wouldnt get to go to the Farm Machinery Show in Louisville Kentucky with papaw. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23rd at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Jim Whitt will officiate. Charles Junior Winkle age 81 of Lynchburg died Friday morning October 17, 2014 at his home. He was born December 20, 1932 in Willettsville, Ohio the son of the late Charles Russell and Betty Jane Hart Winkle. Mr. Winkle had retired after thirty years of service as a supervisor with the Cincinnati Milacron Company in Mt. Orab. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Janet Williams Winkle who he had married on May 28, 1954, three children, Lori (Mike) Creditt of Lynchburg, Susan (Les) Wylie of Middletown, Jan (Bonnie) Winkle of Lynchburg, four grandchildren, Timothy (Michelle) Creditt of Lynchburg, Eric Rosselott of Middletown, Zane Kern of Kettering, Chad Creditt of Lynchburg, five great grandchildren, Caleb, Riley and Ryan Creditt, Emilee Kern and Reese Rosselott, one sister, Christine Julliard of Pricetown and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Martin, Amy Pendall and Goldie Parker.
